Prairie dress

On a trip to the craft store to get a few supplies I got distracted when I saw that simplicity patterns were on sale for $. 99  a piece.  I obviously couldn't pass that up so I choose some patterns and then some fabric to go with one of them and this was the result.

I used the simplicity pattern number 8384 which you can find here and most likely at any store that sells simplicity patterns.  I made view B but made some slight alterations to the sleeves and the button spacing on the plackets.

The fabric was also on clearance  for $4 a yard instead of $8 a yard for %100 cotton fabric.

Check Out My Shop!

7:59:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

This past year has been crazy.  As you know from and earlier post I was diagnosed with a chronic illness as well as a few other health issues and because of them my life has gotten both easier and harder.  I was able to finish high school with a 3.8 GPA and several academic awards and participate in several clubs and go on several field trips for AP Art.  The trouble is that because I was much more involved in school activities and because of my experience when I had a job last school year I was unable to work and am unable to obtain a job at any of the typical minimum wage jobs so although that isn't ideal it gives me the opportunity to stretch myself to obtain the dreams I thought I wouldn't be able to do until much later in life.
That is I am going to be starting my own "entrepreneurship" endeavors by building up this blog with recipes and more fashion and sewing projects,  I also may start a YouTube channel if I can build up my confidence and bravery too.  Finally I started my own shop where I will be selling my art on different products such as t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, bags, notebooks, etc.  which I am super excited to share with you.
I know that you may be thinking how you have never seen me post about my art before and that is because I wasn't as into art before as I am now even though I was still fairly talented several years ago.  Taking AP Art helped me to discover how much more I love creating art and designs in all different mediums and for all different topics.  I plan to soon post more about my adventures in AP Art and putting up pictures of my art for you to see.
     Anyways check out my shop.  Right now it only has one design because I am still learning how to use computer drawing programs and am looking for a good stylus to use.  Here is the link to my shop http://vintagemodernmiss.threadless.com and here is a preview of the design;

FCCLA STAR event

8:55:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

This year I am taking the highest sewing/fashion class offered at my school by doing so we have to take part in a Star event for FCCLA a club for family and consumer sciences.  There are many different categories of events to choose from but the one that I chose was Fashion Design so that I could get a feel of what it is like to create your own designs and create it.  The event also requires you to create a label and price out the costs of making the design based on the demographics that you chose to market you brand towards.  This helps us to get a better understanding of the business side of being a fashion designer.
I decided that since I have to do so much for it, it would be fun to document my progress so this is the first installment of progress.

These are just the rough sketches without any color and not many details but so far I am pretty excited!

NOTE;  From when I first started this project to now the second design that is pictured has completely changed to fit in better.  The new design and the others colored in will be shown in the next post.

Breakfast ideas

8:25:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

The first breakfast I had was a gluten free bagel with a vegan mayonnaise subsitute, Just Mayo is my personal favorite, topped with bacon, tomato, and avocado.  This version is not vegan because I put bacon on it (my weakness).
This second one is completely vegan with gluten free vegan bagels with the same vegan mayonnaise ss above but this time I only put avacado on top.  Because of the lack of topping optioned I had I also had vegan yogurt on the side.
Both of these options are super simple yet super filling and they can be super quick and easy with just a little bit of prep!
Love,
