Belle Skirt
Recently the teaser trailer came out for the live action Beauty and the Beast, the movie I've been freaking out about since they announced it. Belle is one of my favorite princesses because I have a similar personality and looks and I've always liked Beast the most out of the other princes, not that I don't like the other princes!
Anyways I wanted to make a skirt inspired by Belle even though the trailer didn't show the costuming, this is what I came up with using an old curtain that was the perfect color and amount of fabric.
Preliminary sketches and notes. The problem I ran into was that I don't have any zippers and was too lazy to go to the store and get one, but I had plenty of elastic. I made it so that the waistband would only be attached along two thirds of the skirt then the last one third would be elastic so I could get the skirt on then I could tie the waistband into a bow to cover the elastic and as a reference to the apron Belle wears.
The next problem was figuring out how to use the limited amount of fabric I had and try to not mess up the cutting because I didn't have any sort of pattern or reference besides whatever my mind came up with and my sketches pictured. Because of that, the skirt quite a bit longer to make than I had anticipated, but I think the final product is fairly good.
This is the front of the final product (using the curtain I mentioned above)
Back of the skirt with the waistband tied over the elastic.
This picture is from an OOTD I'm planning on posting soon using this skirt so that you can get the full affect of the skirt and see the full silhouette and get a better idea of how it lays.
P.S. I know I haven't hardly written anything at all on any of my other posts I am planning on writing more because I am out of school and I feel now is a good time for you to learn my story and what I hope for the future, my dreams, and why I do what I do.
Thank You!
